Yesterday, people called me pretending to be my Internet provider (how they got this information eludes me) and they said that they'd lost my bank account numbers. Of course I didn't believe them one second, so to make them run a little I kept pretending that I didn't know what they were talking about... after a while a second person went on the phone and eventually a third one. I kept making  mistake after mistake and not knowing what they were talking about... after a while ( close to twenty minutes) they realized what was going on and hung up. I then called my IP who told me that they were aware of this scam but that there wasn't much they could do about it. It made me angry to think how many people must fall for it on a daily basis and how much money these scoundrels must have stolen already.

Thanks for the heads up. If such people call up, I'll make sure to hang up straight away.

People finishing their meals and then coming back to sit next to you while you finish yours off. It's off-putting for me.

I didn't know that polishing coins damaged them. Even with something non abrasive?

Rubbing a coin to make it "shiny" is bad.

Putting a coin in water for less than 60 seconds is not bad. (Not considered cleaning)

But these coins have existed for centuries, they must have gone through hell, rain, abrasion. I know someone who found Roman Sesterces buried in dirt. They must have been there for more than a millennium, yet the carvings were still recognizable and legible.

Sorry if I got you confused. With Ancient coins, which are always found in the ground, you can clean them.

With 1600s-Present coins, cleaning makes them worth less because it's damaged.
